The TransPride YOUniting Health and Wellness Conference

The TransPride YOUniting Health and Wellness Conference seeks proposals for their upcoming conference from Oct. 5-7 in Pittsburgh. This conference aims to bring together community, professionals, families, educators, allies, advocates, and supporters and rallying against anti-transgender issues by centering the lives and lived experiences of the transgender, gender diverse, and gender non-conforming people.

Binary and Nonbinary Transgender Adolescents' Healthcare Experiences, Avoidance, and Well Visits

Dr. Liz Miller's recent research shows that nonbinary and transmasculine adolescents are experiencing more non-affirming health care experiences than transfeminine adolescents. These negative and non-affirming experiences create health care and well visit avoidance. Healthcare systems need to address their disrespect and refusal of care as well as proactively train and educate their providers to support the transcommunity with competent and affirming care.

Sexual Violence and Gender Minority Youth

Dr. Miller's recent publication shows the impacts of the pervasive and harmful narratives used to weaponize transgender identities in contemporary political discourse and the ongoing need for gender transformative sexual violence prevention programs.

Parent Perspectives on Laws Banning Gender-Affirming Care for Transgender Adolescents

Dr. Kazmerski, Dr. Miller, and their team surveyed parents and caregivers about proposed bills to ban gender-affirming medical interventions for minors in the U.S. and the perceived effects on their transgender youth's mental health.
