Feasibility Testing of a Web-Based Reproductive Decision Support Tool for Cystic Fibrosis

Dr. Kazmerski , Olivia Stransky, Catherine Wright, Dr. Birru Talabi, Dr. Callegari, Dr. Chang, Dr. Miller, Ashley Deal, Raelynn O'Leary, and Dr. Borrero conducted a study on our femtech tool MyVoice:CF showing that the tool increases self-efficacy and reproductive health communication for those with cystic fibrosis.

Development of My Decision/Mi Decisión

Drs. Mosley and Borrero developed a web-based decision aid to support permanent contraception decision called My Decision/Mi Decisión. This tool includes written and video information about tubal sterilization procedures; an interactive table of contraception options; values clarification exercises; reflection and deliberation; knowledge checks; and a summary report to share with one's provider. Users found the decision aid to be informative, engaging, easy to use, and helpful in informing contraception decision making.

FemTech collaboration with CMU students o help those with Cystic Fibrosis make informed decisions related to breastfeeding

Ashley Deal and Raelynn O'Leary's Interaction Design class at CMU collaborated with Dr. Kazmerski and Olivia Stransky to develop mobile tools to help those with Cystic Fibrosis make informed decisions related to breastfeeding/chestfeeding.

Tamar Krishnamurti receives the First in FemTech Award!

Tamar Krishnamurti, PhD received the First in FemTech Award from FemTech Focus! The FemTech movement is built and inspired by leaders like Dr. Krishnamurti and she is being recognized for her showed contributions to women’s health through her excellence in innovation, leadership qualities, milestones accomplished, collaborative spirit, and her dedication to accessibility, affordability, and diversity.

Using implementation science frameworks to translate and adapt a pregnancy app for the Latino community

Dr. Tamar Krishnamurti's recent work illustrates a process to adapt an mHealth pregnancy app to the needs of the Latino community, by incorporating culturally sensitive Spanish language content while focusing on addressing existing health disparities. Findings show that there are several instances where a direct translation approach, predicated on a positive patient-provider relationship, would fail to address the healthcare needs of the members of the Latino community.

Engaging Stakeholders in the Development of a Reproductive Goals Decision AID for Women with Cystic Fibrosis

Utilizing meaningful stakeholder contributions, Dr. Traci Kazmerski and her team developed MyVoice:CF, a novel web-based decision aid to help women with CF engage in shared decision-making regarding their reproductive goals.
